Building upon an existing client relationship, we partnered with the Marquette University to renovate an existing computer lab into a state of the art screening room for their College of Communication. In supporting their curriculum, this project executes a program element initially conceptualized during earlier programming goal setting, and enriches the educational experience for students.
Johnston Hall was built in 1907 as one of Marquette’s first university buildings.
The challenges of renovating in a historic building limited the ability to provide a fully tiered environment. We embraced these challenges and took opportunity to create shallow risers, multiple seating options such as mobile lounge seating, auditorium seating, and fixed tables at varying heights to provide optimal screening sight lines.
Various seating options are reconfigurable from traditional screening room to break-out collaborative discussions, flexing from instruction to hosting alumni events.
The finish palette is restrained and elegant, providing a sophisticated space for student learning and university events.
