Located along the banks of the Fox River, The Lockside introduces new residential and retail typologies to historic De Pere, one of Wisconsin’s oldest settled communities. Set on a narrow site between the Broadway Historic District and the waterfront, and adjacent to SOM’s new Mulva Cultural Center, the development combines condominiums, townhouses, and rental residences alongside riverfront restaurant space, street-level retail, and expansive new public access to the water. Inspired by the neighborhood’s historic significance as well as the lock system that has shaped this stretch of the Fox River since the 1850s, the design of The Lockside echoes the rhythms and materiality of the district’s historic commercial blocks and industrial structures.
