1703 Vel R Phillips is a 3-story commercial and office building with sustainable design choices like a hybrid mass timber structure and green roof. Replacing a vacant house on the corner of Walnut and Vel R Phillips, it will re-activate the street by bringing commercial tenants to the first floor and office tenants on each remaining floor. Initially a larger 7-story proposal, this current iteration fits comfortably into the district's scale and aesthetic while providing an open and airy workspace.

Operable folding windows encase a 3-season room that rounds the corner of the building. This activates the primary façade and creates a balcony-like threshold between interior workspace and the outdoor environment.

CLT cores and floor plates act as the primary structural elements across all three levels. The green roof caps the building, contributing to its sustainable performance.
